The Samiha Foundation on Saturday officially flagged off the distribution of admission letters to 25 female students sponsored to pursue the National Certificate in Education (NCE) at the College of Education, Kura (COE-Kura), Rano Study Centre.
At the ceremony, the Foundation’s Chairman, Dr. Ismail Yusuf Musa, who also serves as Secretary of Rano Local Government Council, highlighted the organisation’s commitment to advancing girls’ education. Represented at the event by Dr. Abubakar Kalli Kuri, Musa noted that empowering young women through education is central to societal progress.
“One of the core pillars of the Samiha Foundation is promoting girls’ education and sponsoring them to pursue it for the betterment of society,” he said, adding, “No society can truly develop without educating its women.”
Also commending the initiative, COE-Kura’s Centre Manager, Comrade Abdulra’uf Nafiu Umar, encouraged other philanthropists to follow the Foundation’s example. “We appreciate the efforts of the Samiha Foundation and urge other well-meaning individuals to emulate this gesture,” he said.
A representative of the beneficiaries, Shamsiyya Ahmad, expressed heartfelt gratitude on behalf of the 25 students. “We thank the Samiha Foundation for giving us this opportunity. It means a lot to us and our families,” she said.
As more organisations step in to support girls’ education, the question remains: Will other foundations rise to bridge the gap and empower the next generation of women leaders?
