HarvestPlus Nutritious Food Fair 2025 â Kano State
African Media & Communications Consulting (AMCC) provided end-to-end communications, event documentation, and reporting for the HarvestPlus Nutritious Food Fair 2025, held in Kano State. The fair brought together women farmers, government officials, students, and key stakeholders to promote biofortified crops, household nutrition, and sustainable food systems.
Key Highlights and Activities:
Smart Mother Initiative: Celebrated women farmers trained in the production and processing of biofortified crops. The initiative honored the Kano First Lady, Hajiya Maryam Aba Kabir Yusuf, represented by the Commissioner for Women Affairs, Hajiya Amina S. Abdullahi, for her advocacy for women across sectors. AMCC documented award presentations, training sessions, and interactions, showcasing the impact on participants who are empowered to start food businesses and improve household nutrition.
Student Engagement: AMCC covered quiz competitions for secondary school students, designed to raise awareness on the importance of biofortified crops and nutrition.
Cooking Competitions and Demonstrations: Our team captured cooking competitions and live demonstrations highlighting creative uses of biofortified crops in everyday meals, emphasizing both nutrition and culinary innovation.
Focus on Biofortified Crops: Throughout the fair, AMCC highlighted educational activities and exhibits centered on vitamin A maize, iron/zinc millet, and other nutrient-rich crops, emphasizing their role in improving health for children, pregnant women, and vulnerable populations.

Premier Tropicana Champions Climate-Smart Farming Through AGRA-Supported Initiative
African Media & Communications Consulting (AMCC) played a central role in producing a documentary for Premier Tropicana Nigeria Limited, capturing the success of its farmer empowerment program supported by AGRA. Filmed in Kaduna State, we documented how smallholder farmers are adopting climate-smart agricultural practices with digital tools, agronomic training, and innovative learning materials. By highlighting the work of community-based advisors and the voices of farmers, AMCC showcased both the programâs impact and the companyâs commitment to sustainable agriculture, helping Premier Tropicana communicate its vision to a national audience.
Strengthening Partnerships for Rural Transformation in South Sudan
On the sidelines of #UNFSS+4 in Addis Ababa, AMCC documented high-level discussions between IFAD, led by Dr. Caroline Mwongera, and Hon. Hussein Abdalbegi, Minister of Agriculture and Food Security, South Sudan. Our team captured the strategic dialogue focused on food system coordination, community-driven development, South-South and Triangular Cooperation, and mobilizing climate finance for resilience. By producing detailed event coverage, we amplified the shared vision of rural transformation and highlighted the partnershipâs impact on empowering youth and women in South Sudan.
Propcom+ Strategic Workshop on National Seed Policy Implementation
AMCC served as the official Rapporteur and communications partner during the two-day workshop held on July 30â31, 2025, funded by the FCDO. The workshop, attended by senior government officials, policymakers, seed industry experts, and development partners, including Dr. Adiya Ode, Alhaji Bashir Sanusi, Mallam Jafar Abubakar, and Dr. Yusuf Dollah Fouâad, focused on strengthening the National Seed Policy Implementation Framework. AMCC meticulously documented discussions, drafted the Improvement Action Plan, captured key outcomes, and ensured that follow-up action points were clear. Our work enabled Propcom+ to have a comprehensive record to support evidence-based policy implementation and advocacy for smallholder farmers.

Launch of Latter-Day Saints Biofortified Seed Distribution in Jigawa State
On June 9, 2025, AMCC captured and reported on the launch of a nationwide biofortified seed distribution initiative by HarvestPlus Nigeria in Jigawa State, attended by the Executive Governor and other dignitaries. We documented the delivery of climate-smart, high-yielding seedsâincluding vitamin A maize and iron/zinc millet-to 30,000 farmers across all 27 LGAs. Beyond photography and video coverage, AMCC produced press-ready content and highlights that emphasized the programâs impact on nutrition, resilience, and sustainable agriculture, helping stakeholders showcase their commitment to community development.
Women at the Heart of Nutrition: HarvestPlus Webinar
AMCC facilitated comprehensive event coverage for the HarvestPlus webinar on March 13, 2025, focusing on women-led solutions to malnutrition and food insecurity. By capturing insights from speakers like Muadi Mukenge, Maggie Biruri, Dr. Azra Adibaba, Panina Muoki, and Rewa Misra, we produced detailed reports, social media highlights, and strategic communications materials. HarvestPlus Validation Workshop on Provitamin A Maize Standards
AMCC coordinated and documented media coverage for the March 5, 2025, workshop at Bolton White Hotel, Abuja. This pivotal event brought together stakeholders from the National Variety Release Committee, National Agricultural Seed Council, MAAN, academia, and government representatives including Nuhu Kilishi. We produced professional media reports, press releases, and strategic event content that highlighted the development of micronutrient standards for biofortified maize, amplifying HarvestPlusâ role in combating malnutrition across Nigeria.
Shaping the Future of Nutrition in Nigeria: HarvestPlus Workshop
AMCCâs team provided live reporting and post-event documentation for HarvestPlusâ Validation Workshop in Abuja, capturing discussions among experts, policymakers, and industry leaders. AMCC managed end-to-end communications for the Nutritious Food Fair held on December 9â10, 2023, in Kaduna State, attended by over 300 participants including the Deputy Governor Dr. Hadiza Sabuwa Balarabe and other key government officials. We provided event documentation, newsletter production, storytelling content, and media coverage. By capturing presentations, stakeholder interactions, and program highlights, AMCC ensured that the fairâs message on transforming food systems for improved nutrition and climate resilience was effectively communicated to both national and international audiences.
